The regional final, held on 22 March at Brooklands College in Weybridge, saw seven highly skilled school chefs compete to produce a two-course meal suitable for an 11-year-old pupil. They were given just 90 minutes to prepare everything from scratch.
Alison impressed the judges with a light, fresh main course of Makhani chicken with jasmine infused rice, onion and herb salad, wholemeal chapatti, served alongside sharp and sweet apricot chutney and a refreshing cucumber raita. This was followed by Kashmir pineapple pudding; a traditional baked cinnamon custard dessert, with grilled pineapple and mint sugar, from the Kashmir region of South Asia. Ingredients used by Alison Gann in her winning menu included MAGGI Rich & Rustic Tomato Sauce and Carnation Condensed Milk Light from competition sponsor MAGGI by Nestle Professional.
