The coming together in 1983 of ‘Gunter & Company’ and ‘Payne’s Caterers’ to form ‘Payne and Gunter’ marked the establishment of one of the country’s most senior outside and special event caterers.
Privately owned until 1996 Alan Payne had a huge influence on the success that Payne and Gunter has seen over time and makes us the team we are today. The message that he instilled as being the ‘largest small outdoor catering company’ is an ethos Payne and Gunter continue by running the business as a niche operation with the backing and support of a multinational company.
Payne and Gunter’s menus are based on ‘Excellent British Food with a Twist’ and we are committed to presenting excellent, fresh and contemporary food with ‘farm to fork’ knowledge of the raw ingredients.
As part of Compass Group plc we have the infrastructure and specialist knowledge to ensure excellence at both small and large events. We are consistent, reliable and down to earth event caterers.
A more passionate team of people you will not find! From senior management to chefs and kitchen porters Payne and Gunter’s team exudes enthusiasm for the job at hand.
We are listed as accredited caterers at many prestigious unique London venues including the Natural History Museum, V&A Museum and Madame Tussauds to name a few.
As well as the events that we cater for as accredited suppliers we also work with our Compass partners at venues such as the O2 and Olympia, where we work alongside our sister brands to carry out larger scale events as the skills within the Payne and Gunter team offer expertise in event management.
Special Events also form a great part of our business and in July 2012 we looked after three clients at Farnborough Airshow, managed the catering offer for Club France during the 2012 Olympics at Old Billingsgate and worked in partnership with Keith Prowse at the AUDI International Polo. Events such as these warrant our full event management skills as the logistics surrounding them is much more complex and knowledge of the sites in which we are working is imperative to the success of the events.
