Head of Culinary - Business & Industry, 14forty

    Since joining Compass group in 2010 Michael has worked his way up from a chef manager’s position, he spent time as a development chef, and then moved into a role as Group Executive Chef for the G.E contract. Michael now heads up the catering for this channel in his current role as Head of Culinary for 14forty - this position involves looking after all elements of the catering operation with the help of a dedicated catering team, from sales to mobilisation of new contracts, and then the operation and development in driving the business forward. 14forty has experienced 60% growth in the last 12 months - the food operation has grown even further than this.

    Sometimes his professional and personal life overlap, as a keen fisherman, environmentalist and foodie Michael is the compass UK  chef champion for “sustainable fish and seafood”- he won “gold best in class” at the 2016 international Hotelympia competition for “restaurant fish plates” (and headed up a team of 14forty chefs who won 3 medals overall),  and also came 2 in the 2013 all England squid fishing championship (missing out on 1 place by less than 1 c.m!), When he is not competing he will likely be found either fishing on his kayak, or preparing his catch at home.
