Last year Compass Group UK & Ireland teamed up with The Caterer to explore key issues and trends that are having an impact on the industry. Throughout 2017, we looked at everything from ethical eating to food trends for the year ahead, plus the rise of the coffee market, the growing importance of experiences in eating out and the increasing prevalence of menu customisation.


As the UK’s leading catering provider, we wanted to work in partnership with The Caterer and others in the industry to delve into these topics and uncover real insight. The best way for us to succeed in such an exciting and dynamic market is to stay focused on what makes our customers happy, and delivering this every day. Whether you’re taking a break from work, shopping or studying, dining alone or with colleagues and friends – it’s absolutely critical that we know what will make you smile!


Our insights, alongside the knowledge of our people, such as our chefs and nutritionists, mean that we’re perfectly placed to respond to these market changes and the ever-evolving needs of our customers. I hope these features are insightful and interesting. For us, it’s provided a great opportunity to explore consumer trends and really challenge ourselves to make sure our offer meets changing consumer needs. Our consumers’ lives are getting busier, but their expectations of food quality and service are getting higher – great insight keeps us ahead of the game!
