Our Graduates - Serena Ng

Case Study

Our Graduate schemes aim to develop our next generation of leaders. Covering all things Operations, the programme provides structured development and real job experience over a two year period. The programmes offer a breadth of involvement across our business and participants gain experience through four six-month rotations in different parts of the organisation.

Serena Ng joined the Operations Graduate programme in 2019. On completion of her two-year course, she secured a role within our Healthcare sector as a Project Manager.

Why did you join the Compass grad scheme?

Compass is such a large company, I knew I would be able to gain lots of valuable experience in various roles within the business across different sectors.

Talk us through your experience on the programme

The Graduate Programme has been a great opportunity to jumpstart my career, by working across different sectors which has allowed me to take on new roles to experience multiples areas of the business. I was given vast opportunities to take on responsibilities within operations, projects, marketing, and mobilisation. Throughout my rotations, I was constantly challenged and pushed outside my comfort zone, which significantly improved my knowledge and skillset. The support and guidance of people along the way and regular workshops have contributed to my development a great deal.

What’s your current role and what does it involve?

Project Manager within the healthcare sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland. This involves planning, execution, and completion of various projects such as implementing new innovative technology, mobilising new contracts, retail refurbishments and fitouts. Being able to work across different types of projects makes my job really interesting as I am able to explore different avenues and aspects of the business.

Any advice to others looking for a role and potentially doing a grad scheme?
