Catering Provider ESS Supports Local Charity - Social Bite to Deliver 500 Hamper Boxes to Those in Need

Local catering provider ESS donated 500 hamper boxes of assorted food and drink items to local charity - Social Bite, who, as a response to the COVID-19 crisis are producing emergency fresh food packs for 5,000 vulnerable individuals per day, across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen.

Boxes were sourced by ESS’ procurement provider, Foodbuy UK & Ireland and contained a range of essentials and treats such as tea, coffee, water, cereal bars, porridge bars, crisps, chocolate brownies and more. Boxes were delivered by the ESS team on Monday afternoon to Aberdeen Social Bite café, where they will be redistributed through Social Bite’s network to those in need, including homeless shelters, food banks, community groups and children’s charities.

Mark Webster, Managing Director ESS said: “During this time, ESS was really keen to do something to help out locally in Aberdeen where we have an office. We reached out to Social Bite because we truly value the work they do across Scotland, and knew we had the means to help. It’s been great to work with them on this initiative. I would also like to say a massive thank you to our suppliers for their generosity and support.”

Jamie Boyd, Project Manager, Social Bite said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the support of the ESS team during this difficult time. We are currently supporting vulnerable people who are still coming to our café in Aberdeen for food everyday as well as through our extended distribution network in the city. These Hamper Boxes will go out to people alongside our fresh food packs and will bring a lot of joy to people facing hardship.”
