Compass celebrate UK’s Social Mobility “The SOMOs” 2023 Awards Win

News

Compass’ career pathway programme, has been recognised with a win for “Progression Programme of the Year” at the UK’s Social Mobility Awards – The SOMOs. Companies enter from around the country from every sector, making the awards hotly contested. In addition, Compass secured Bronze for Organisation of the Year, recognising its work on its overall social mobility strategy.

The UK Social Mobility Awards are about making the advancement of social mobility a key part of how organisations are run in this country.

The SOMOs themselves are a unique set of awards that have been specifically established to recognise and encourage action that will promote and increase social mobility within Britain’s companies and institutions.

Since late 2021, Compass career pathways have successfully supported 1500 employees who have joined the programme, to further develop and enhance their skills. The programme has had a great success rate with 50% of those who have completed the programme having already been promoted or moved into a different role.

Compass Career Pathways provide a clear plan of development and training for all operational roles and central functions. The pathways support colleagues in achieving their career ambitions, whether that is to move up to more senior roles, move to a different part of the business or specialising their skills within their existing role.

Comment on the win, Amanda Scott, Director of Learning and Development said: "The awards are a fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved as the team have work tirelessly to enhance our learning and development offer by providing something that works for all employees, that supports people across sectors, professions and no matter what qualifications you have. The programme is part of ‘our social promise’ which drives our social mobility aspirations and ultimately delivers for our business and clients.”
