Emily Abbam graduates from the Ethnic Future Leader Programme

News

The Ethnic Future Leader Programme aims to improve ethnic diversity in leadership. A six-month long programme identifies and invests in existing high potential employees from diverse ethnic backgrounds supporting their progression into more senior roles across Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail.

The programme created by WiTHL (Diversity in Travel, Hospitality and Leisure) is produced in partnership with IHG. This cohort saw Emily Abbam, Diversity and Inclusion Business Partner at Rapport taking part and recently graduated. Throughout the six months Emily participated in 6 development sessions, in addition to reverse mentoring opportunities and work closely with their peer group.

Mel Aston, Diversity and Inclusion Manager said: “Investing in our Diversity and Inclusion agenda is of paramount importance to us. We look to external providers to support this and the EFL programme is a fantastic example. With its wide range of training sessions, as well as network mentoring opportunities and practical frameworks for career development, it will allow us to improve our ethnic diversity in leadership.”

Emily said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of the large cohort of professionals on this year’s WiHTL Ethnic Future Leaders course! Working with other liked minded individuals, I have learnt and grown as a professional, but also personally. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

Looking forward we will have participants in future cohorts of the Ethnic Future Leader Programme.
