How well do you know your receptionist? Those in London perform poorly in new survey

A survey carried out by Rapport, the UK’s leading provider of exceptional guest services, found less than half of London workers with a receptionist know all of their names, ahead of National Receptionists’ Day on Wednesday 11th May 2016.

In a survey conducted by YouGov, only 45% of London workers with a receptionist knew the names of all their reception staff, compared to a national average of 57%. Only Scotland scored as poorly as London (45%).

The rest of the country performed better with:

  • 59% of workers with a receptionist in the South and 53% of those in the East confirming they knew the name of all their receptionists.
  • North of England, topped the table with 65%, reaffirming their position as one of the friendliest regions of the UK.

Women workers with receptionists were also found to be more likely (62%) to know the name of all their receptionists compared to 52% among their male counterparts.

Workers are being encouraged to do more to recognise the great work of their receptionists, by celebrating their contribution to the companies they work for on National Receptionists’ Day. Rapport is urging workers to get to know their receptionists better, even if the first step is finding out their name.

Greg Mace, Managing Director, Rapport, the lead sponsor of National Receptionists’ Day explains: Our receptionists are usually our guests’ first point of contact with our clients’ organisations and we appreciate how hard they work to ensure that they make a brilliant first impression.

“Supporting National Receptionists’ Day is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the great work they do and to raise their profile within the business in which they work. We are delighted that our clients, which include some of the UK’s biggest employers, are going to be supporting the day and encourage others to also get involved. We hope that every single receptionist who takes part will feel proud about the important job they do.”

“National Receptionists’ Day is the perfect way to celebrate the work of dedicated receptionists all over the world and we’re delighted to be lead sponsor of the UK event.”
