In the last six months over thirty employees from the leading food service company, Compass Group UK & Ireland, have successfully completed modules of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) diploma.
They have undertaken courses in barista skills and brewing. These newly trained baristas will now be showcasing their skills at Compass House, and client sites IBM, Liberty Global and Virgin Media, three global blue chip client sites.
Compass Group UK & Ireland became members of SCAE in July, the trade association representing thousands of coffee enthusiasts and professionals from across Europe and Asia. Since securing membership, Compass employees have enrolled on a number of SCAE’s Coffee Diploma courses that provide a structured approach to coffee education with a consistent curriculum and model accessible across Europe.
It’s anticipated a further 50 employees will complete their training in the next six months. To date baristas have successfully completed and passed the Introduction into Coffee, Barista skills and Brewing - foundation level courses. We will be looking to sign-up further baristas in the New Year as part of our apprenticeship programme and also encourage those baristas who have started their coffee journey to work towards the SCAE Diploma in Coffee.
