It’s been three years since we launched FM Appreciation Week within Compass Group UK & Ireland. We introduced the week to celebrate our FM and support service teams, who provide the backbone of our operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Facilities Management is a cornerstone of our business, representing one-third of our overall operations. Whether it's helpdesk services, cleaning, security, outdoor services, or mechanical and electrical teams, our FM colleagues are the unsung heroes who work behind the scenes, bringing energy, professionalism and dedication to their roles.

We employ many people that deliver brilliant FM services day in and day out. We are committed to nurturing our talent and attracting new people to the organisation and FM is a focus area for our learning and development opportunities. We will continue to invest in ways we can help our people to progress but also deliver expertise for our clients and customers within the FM space.

Our FM teams excel in diverse areas, from advancing mental health training and adopting smart technologies in Healthcare to servicing over 85 facilities and cleaning more than 1 billion square metres annually across the Defence and Energy sectors. In Business and Industry, 14forty has expanded its FM services to major food clients. In Education, the team has focused on implementing solutions like solar panel installations to reduce utility costs and delivering comprehensive training programmes for both Hard and Soft FM services.

Today and this week, I would encourage everyone to shine the spotlight on FM and support service colleagues. Our FM teams are at the heart of everything we do - let’s ensure they receive the recognition they truly deserve.
