We are still celebrating after a successful evening at the 2019 Foodservice Cateys, where we won three major awards.

The awards considered the ‘Oscars’ of the hospitality industry, took place on Friday 11th October at the Park Plaza, London, and celebrates the individuals, teams and businesses shaping our industry.

Our Levy UK apprentice chef Nathan Racy, won Trainee Chef of the Year. This new award was open to all trainee chefs working in any sector of the foodservice industry in a public or private site. Nathan also recently received the silver award in the apprentice category at Compass’ annual Chef of the Year competition.

Nathan Racey, Levy UK, commented: “I feel very honoured to have been awarded such a prestigious accolade so early on in my career. I am extremely grateful for the mentorship and support of my team at Levy UK here at Tottenham Hotspur and couldn’t have done it without them! It has inspired me to keep striving for better and I’m looking forward to the upcoming opportunities within Compass to continue to grow and hone my skill set.”

Rapport, our specialist provider of exceptional Guest Services, won the Front of House Team award, showcasing the team at our contract with Broadgate where they provide services across a portfolio of 14 high profile properties around Liverpool Street station. The judges highlighted a commitment to outstanding service, excellent communication skills and a relentless desire to provide a service for their tenants and visitors to the estate that goes ‘above and beyond’.

Greg Mace, Managing Director of Rapport Guest Services, said: “Rapport’s ethos is based on providing exceptional, personalised service. We enjoy a really collaborative partnership with our Broadgate clients, and this support energises and empowers our team to excel. I am delighted that their many achievements have been recognised.”

Last, but not least, our Levy Ireland team secured a win for Best Use of Technology at Aviva stadium. This award was open to operators from any sector of foodservice and recognises business or individuals who have delivered innovative technology that has made a tangible difference to their business in the last 12 months.

The stadiums introduction of digital ordering service app ‘RapidQ’ in 2018, has resulted in a 125% increase in sales from ‘RapidQ’ bars in the stadium compared to when they were just cash bars, an uplift in productivity of staff and has transformed the bars from quiet areas into bustling environments with lots of energy.

Chris Chidley, Managing Director, Compass Ireland, concluded: “Our team at Aviva Stadium are always looking to innovate and enhance service. Customers want to be able to purchase not only their food and drink, but merchandise, matchday programs and tickets for upcoming matches digitally. It’s great to see the development and positive effect over the last 12 months at the stadium and to see the team recognised for their hard work is a great reward.”

Compass had 12 nominations in total across six additional categories including Event Caterer of the Year, Chef Manager of the Year, General Manager of the Year, Healthy Eating Champion, Regional Manager Award and People and Training Award.
