Monies raised from plastic bags support seven charities
Reducing single-use plastic and supporting charitable causes is an essential step towards creating a more sustainable and socially responsible business. We are phasing out plastic bags, but where they have been used we have donated the money raised to seven different charities who address environmental initiatives.
The chosen charities this year are:
- Waste Aid
- Nourish Scotland
- Keep Wales Tidy
- Feeding Britain
- Bumblebee Conservation Trust
- FareShare
- Oceana
Fareshare commented: “Compass’ donation will enable us to redistribute the equivalent of 116,300 meals and the support comes at a crucial time as currently, 1 in 5 people in the UK are experiencing food poverty. Meanwhile, 7bn meals are being wasted. Meal by meal Compass’ donation will help to bring people together and improve lives, making sure that no family is left behind. “
Ceris Turner-Bailes, Chief Executive from WasteAid added: “Thank you once again for Compass’ commitment to making a difference to the global waste management landscape. With your support, we will change the lives of people living with the impacts of harmful waste, in the communities that need it most.”
