SSAFA Christmas Lunch

This December, Compass UK & Ireland chefs volunteered their time to cook up a mouth-watering Christmas lunch with all the trimmings for over 60 members of the SSAFA Southend Veteran's Lunch Club at the Royal British Legion Hall, in partnership with SSAFA, the armed forces charity. Founded in January 2016 by Michele Everett, Divisional Secretary of Southend and Rochford SSAFA, the club is funded solely by donations, and strives to provide dedicated time every week for local veterans to socialise and feel part of the community.  

With unmistakable festive cheer, the team served up a fantastic selection of traditional and delicious dishes. The main course included options such as roast turkey with cranberry sauce, and a baked cod fillet with lemon and dill sauce.

Mick Hickman, Chairman of the Armed Forces Covenant Group for Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “We are proud to have spent another wonderful day supporting the veteran community of Southend during this festive period. Our chefs are extremely passionate about the work SSAFA do; this Christmas lunch was a great way to show our appreciation for this inspiring community, while joining in with the fun!”
