News

Chartwells UK, our education business is celebrating after winning two of the top awards at the 10th anniversary of the EDUcatering Excellence Awards, held at the Royal Garden Hotel on Tuesday 8th October.

The top accolade of Contract Caterer of the Year was deservedly won by Chartwells UK. It’s been a very busy year for our colleagues at Chartwells, they’ve achieved over a 20% sugar reduction across its dessert menu in primary and secondary schools ahead of Public Health England’s 2020 deadline; rolled out their ‘Nudge, Nudge’ scheme to drive healthier choices using a scientific approach; and introduced Zest Everyday Brilliance to unify the Chartwells offer, focusing on best practice and showcasing its food in the best possible way to get students excited about eating, to name but a few.

Richard Taylor, MD, Chartwells UK on winning Contract Caterer of the Year: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won Contract Caterer of the Year at the EDUcatering Excellence Awards. Nutrition and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do and we’ve demonstrated this throughout the year by introducing some really innovative and special campaigns into our schools. Taking home this huge accolade is very rewarding and means our hard work has paid off – thank you to all the judges for recognising our work.”

Peter Burt, Chartwells Independent General Manager at St Faith’s Prep School won the EDUcatering Excellence Awards Independent School Caterer of the Year. Chartwells Independent provides catering for independent schools.

Peter said of the win: “This award means so much to me and the whole team at St Faith’s. We’ve done so much over the last year: putting on themed events, introducing new foods, working on dishes for specialist diets to receive accreditations, running cookery clubs and we’ve done an amazing job reducing food waste by 40%. It’s fantastic that this has been acknowledged by such a prestigious awards on its 10th anniversary!”

A huge well done to the Chartwells' teams for their double celebration!
