Claire House is mane attraction at Grand National

News

Jockey Club Catering at Aintree Racecourse has raised £7,525 for local charity partner Claire House Children’s Hospice at this year’s Randox Health Grand National.

For the second year volunteers worked behind the bar to raise money for the children’s hospice and the final amount was matched by Jockey Club Catering.

A team of 20 Claire House volunteers on Ladies Day and 50 helpers on Grand National Day beat last year’s sum and surpassed this year’s fundraising target of £7,000 by serving over 150,000 racecourse visitors.

Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life by providing specialist nursing care and emotional support.

Adam Brown, People Operations Manager at Jockey Club Catering, said: “We are honoured to have fundraised with Claire House at this year’s Grand National. It is a charity that is held close to the hearts of the people of Merseyside and we are proud that we can do so much to help.

“We hope that the money raised can help deliver memorable experiences for the children and families that use Claire House.”

Claire House nursing staff volunteered behind the bar on Grand National Day, including Jenni Bell, Nursing Team Leader. She said: “I love a day at the races so when the opportunity came up to be a part of The Grand National, enjoying the atmosphere whilst helping Claire House, I jumped at the chance.  We had such a great day and I was so pleased to hear that we were able to raise so much money that will make a real difference to the children we help.”

Jockey Club Catering is a joint venture between The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in British racing, and Compass Group UK & Ireland. The partnership was launched in 2009 with the aim of providing premium quality catering at all 15 of The Jockey Club racecourses.
