Compass celebrates four awards at prestigious Foodservice Cateys
Compass Group UK & Ireland is celebrating after scooping four awards at The Foodservice Cateys 2025. Now in its 12th year, these awards celebrate the individuals, teams and businesses shaping the foodservice industry.
More than 500 of the industry’s best and brightest gathered for a black-tie awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster London on 10th October, where the winners were revealed.
Compass winners were:
Best Use of Innovative Technology Award - Levy UK
Acknowledged for its implementation of Boxbar Tech’s automated, self-serve bar solution at Birmingham City Football Club’s St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park Stadium, which has delivered major operational benefits within the past year - redefining what is possible in live event hospitality. The technology features a wall of pouring taps - each able to serve two drinks in just 25 seconds, which is more than 300% faster than a traditional bar set-up.
Judge, Chris Durant: "A clever demonstration of how operational strategy can both improve business metrics, while enhancing customer experience – a win win.”
Chef Manager of the Year – Endang Gonzalez, Blue Apple
Endang wowed judges with her genuine love of food and people. Having started her career with Blue Apple in 2006 as a catering assistant, she has worked across multiple roles and now established herself as an inspirational leader and role model for her peers. Over the past 12 months alone, she has supported her teams through apprenticeship schemes and training sessions in baking. She is known for being a constant cheerleader, always on the look-out for her team members, and shows awareness of front of house operations, making sure to remember people’s preferences and recommend dishes.
Judge, David Mulcahy: “Her genuine love of food and people came across clearly. She is loved by her team, her client and her customers. A real gem and worthy winner.”
“Endang said: "What a night! Winning this award meant a lot for me. I am beyond grateful and lucky to have this opportunity and I would like to thank Sarah Prentice for nominating me and for believing in me for over 12 years.”
General Manager of the Year - Adam Greenway, Eurest
Adam was acknowledged for overseeing a highly complex site, looking after 5,000 employees and an extra 2,000 contractors during peak periods, making it a huge logistical challenge to provide food and drink on a day-to-day basis. Since taking on the role in 2022, he was credited with transforming the catering service, which includes two workplace restaurants and a shop. Alongside this, judges commented that Adem is well-liked and highly respected, with a dedication to supporting his team.
Judge, Anouk van der Ing: “The complexity and scale of Adam’s operation and what he has achieved over the past 12 months is truly phenomenal.”
Rising Star Award - Sandra Juan Delgado, Sustainability Manager, Chartwells Universities
As Sustainability Manager for Chartwells, based at the University of Sussex, Sandra has embraced her role with gusto and established a structure that now defines highly sustainable and socially impactful campus catering. Some of her key achievements include introducing a returnable cup scheme, transforming the campus into a “food waste festival” - that drew nearly 200 students, plus driving the Christmas collection with St Peter’s church in Brighton that supported 130 people experiencing homelessness.
Sandra said: "I am grateful to the University of Sussex and Chartwells Universities for giving me the chance to do work that matters, and to my brilliant team at Sussex for inspiring me every day and nudging me to grow beyond my comfort zone."
Judge Phil Shelley: “An exceptional application. Great to see sustainability as a crucial role. Brings a human element to the key themes of sustainability, and strong collaboration.”
