Compass Group UK & Ireland Appoints New Chief Finance Officer

Compass Group UK & Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Gareth Sharpe, as its new Chief Finance Officer, joining the UK & Ireland executive team.

Gareth joins from Tesco, where he most recently held the position as CFO for Asia. Gareth’s 9-year career at Tesco included time in the UK retail business and dunnhumby before relocating to Bangkok in 2018 to become the Asia CFO where he played an integral role in the subsequent sale of Thailand and Malaysia in December 2020.  Prior to the Asia CFO role Gareth held a number of Finance Director roles in FP&A, Financial Control and in Commercial Finance, where he worked closely with the merchandising and supply chain teams. Prior to Tesco, Gareth started his career with PwC, first in Assurance and then in Business Recovery Services.

Gareth replaces Sarah Sergeant, who leaves after 13 years at Compass Group.

Having worked in the food industry for many years, I am passionate about food and understand the complexities of the sector.  I am really pleased to have the opportunity to support Compass with its plans for growth as we emerge from the pandemic.”
