Compass Group UK & Ireland joins network to enhance charity work

News

Compass Group UK & Ireland has joined the LBG Network to help measure the value and impact of its community projects and charity work.

Launched in 1994, the LBG Network applies robust principles and processes to measure how businesses contribute to and benefit communities, with the aim of increasing the value of activity for more impactful giving wherever possible.

The LBG framework is considered to be the global standard for measuring a corporate’s community investment, and helps organisations to consistently benchmark, measure and manage community contributions. Over 200 businesses globally apply the framework and subscribe to LBG’s vision: a world where every business measures its community investment and shares this in an open, transparent and consistent way.

Duncan Gray, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Compass Group UK & Ireland said: “Historically we’ve only talked about the cash we donate to charity. We’re proud of the money we raise but we can offer even more to society through our talent and expertise. The LBG network enables us to reflect the full contribution our teams make to charitable causes up and down the UK and Ireland.”

Jeffrey Oatham, Director of LBG commented: “This is a global network of businesses and we’re delighted Compass has joined, to ensure transparent measurement of community giving. Our vision is a world where every business measures its community investment and shares this in an open and transparent way. Compass is our newest member to see the value of this and we’re looking forward to helping them enhance the positive contributions they make to society.”

This comes as the business also announces it has raised £2 million for Cancer Research UK since 2009. After eight successful years working with Cancer Research UK, Compass Group UK & Ireland is enhancing its approach to charity partnerships, enabling its sector businesses to select a charity partner or partners that they want to raise funds for. Examples of this include Medirest, the healthcare division of Compass, supporting the Alzheimer’s Society and Rapport, Compass’ guest services business, supporting Action on Hearing Loss.

This new approach follows the launch of Compass’ 2016 Corporate Responsibility Report, which outlines the programme of CR activity that will guide the business to a more sustainable future.
