Compass Group UK & Ireland launch Maternity, Adoption & Shared Parental Leave Packs to support new and expecting parents
Compass Group UK & Ireland, the UK’s largest food and support services firm, has launched new guides to help inform and support employees who are expecting or adopting a child, as well as those returning from maternity, adoption or shared parental leave.
The ‘Maternity, Adoption & Shared Parental Leave Pack’ is split into sections aiming to help employees and their managers while they are preparing to take leave, during their time away from the workplace and to ensure a smooth return back to work.
These packs follow the launch of Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Women in Food’ initiative last year, part of which included a pledge to continue supporting its colleagues who are juggling a family life and work. The guides have been produced as part of a review into the company’s policies and procedures, to ensure line managers are best equipped to support colleagues ahead of any type of parental leave and those preparing to return to work.
With approximately 60,000 employees, Compass Group UK & Ireland is a people-powered business that recognises the importance of nurturing and encouraging its colleagues. In line with this, the newly launched packs have been designed to provide information, tools and guidance to ensure those who are expecting a baby or adopting a child are well prepared for their journey. They include a step by step guide of what needs to be done, useful links for both internal and external information and an action plan.
Fiona Ryland, HR Director at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “People are at the heart of our business and we work hard to help our colleagues maximise their potential. Part of this is ensuring we provide the necessary guidance and tools to help our colleagues. We realise that it can be an exciting, but stressful time for expecting parents or those about to go on adoption leave, however these packs set out guidelines to help explain our processes to colleagues and their managers. We hope this will ensure everyone is well equipped and supported every step of the way.”
Compass launched the ‘Women in Food’ initiative last year which aims to support female chefs and encourage more women to work in the industry.
