Compass Group UK & Ireland wins international Green Apple Award for Environment Best Practice 2016

Compass Group UK & Ireland, the UK’s largest food and support services provider, is celebrating after winning a gold award at the prestigious International Green Apple Awards ceremony.

The annual campaign, hosted by internationally renowned environment group, The Green Apple Organisation, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world. Compass Group was rewarded gold in the Food and Drink category for their revamped approach to ensuring compliance with their certified ISO14001 Environmental Management System and promoting best practice at site level.

The company has engaged their staff and supported client priorities by creating a new ‘Environment Toolkit’ – a visually appealing activity pack. Everything is grouped into six sections, which are based on its key environmental themes; with each section comprising of four engaging activities to help improve understanding and raise awareness.

Since launching the ‘Toolkit’ in January 2015, Compass has enrolled the activity pack at nearly 9,000 sites, with great results. 82% of these sites responded positively to our satisfaction survey stating that the Toolkit was very useful and also provided some fantastic feedback.

Compass was presented with the award at The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Palace, London, on 11 November 2016.
