New M&S Food and Costa Coffee open at Warwick Hospital
*Warwick hospital opens doors to new expanded entrance*
A significant expansion with a game-changing retail and food offering has opened its doors at Warwick Hospital today, featuring a brand-new Marks and Spencer Food and Costa Coffee.
The new store was opened by Andy Jones, One Retail, MD; Adam Carson, Acting Chief Executive, South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust; and Sophie Gilkes, Chief Strategy Officer, South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.
As part of the major investment, the Trust partnered with One Retail, Compass Group UK & Ireland’s specialist retail sector and Noviniti, to transform the Warwick Hospital estate.
The enhanced retail offer brings together two of the nation’s favourite high street brands, each providing their own distinctive experience. The M&S Food outlet offers fresh, high-quality groceries and snacks, while the Costa Coffee provides a welcoming café environment serving expertly crafted coffee and light bites.
Designed as an integrated retail concept, both outlets operate independently but share connected till systems, allowing customers to order and pay for M&S or Costa items at either till point. This approach provides greater flexibility and convenience, ensuring patients, visitors and staff can enjoy a seamless service throughout the day. Both outlets are operated by One Retail and have been designed to complement each other, offering patients, visitors, and staff greater choice and convenience throughout the day.
Andrew Jones, One Retail, Managing Director said: “We’re proud to have brought together two brilliant high street names under one roof at Warwick Hospital. Our partnership approach ensures patients, visitors and staff can enjoy both a trusted M&S Food and a welcoming Costa Coffee, each delivering their own unique experience. This development represents another exciting step in transforming hospital retail, combining convenience, quality and comfort in a modern, accessible space.”
Andrew Miller, Express and Corporate Sales Director for UK&I at Costa Coffee said: “We’re delighted to bring the Costa Coffee experience to Warwick Hospital’s new main entrance as part of this innovative, integrated retail concept. Working closely with One Retail, we’ve created a welcoming space where patients, visitors and staff can enjoy their favourite handcrafted coffee alongside the convenience of M&S Food, all within one accessible location. It’s fantastic to be part of this collaboration, helping to make everyday moments a little brighter for everyone who visits or works at the hospital.”
The overarching hospital project represents a significant investment aimed at creating sustainable, accessible services while transforming the look, feel, and flow of the hospital. As part of the Trust’s estate strategy, the new main entrance building will pave the way for a dedicated facility to expand clinical activity in the next phase of development, creating an elective hub that separates elective (planned) care from emergency services. The creation of an elective hub will improve patient experience, support same-day recovery, and increase surgical capacity and supporting Warwick Hospital to continue to reduce waiting times and meet service demand.
Sophie Gilkes, Chief Strategy Officer at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Our Trust is committed to transforming the Warwick Hospital estate into a modern, high-quality healthcare environment that delivers sustainable, accessible, and patient-centred care.
“The opening of our new main entrance marks a key milestone in Phase One, improving visitor experience, wayfinding, and on-site amenities. We are excited to partner with One Retail and Noviniti to strengthen our food and retail offering, alongside the new restaurant, bringing improved facilities for everyone who visits or works at the hospital.
“We are scheduled to complete the fit-out of the upper floors to create two new wards during Winter 2026/27, paving the way for Phase Two. This next phase will expand clinical capacity and support us to continue to reduce waiting times and meet future service demand.”
Jonathan Houlston, Noviniti, CEO said: “We are delighted to see the doors to the new main entrance open. Noviniti has been working with South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust to support their transformation strategy at Warwick Hospital and, together with One Retail, the new development will greatly improve the staff, patient and visitor experience and provide an improved pathway into Warwick Hospital.”
