Nick Vadis, Culinary Director at Compass Group UK & Ireland, was rewarded for his dedication to the foodservice industry by receiving the Lifetime Achievement – Contract Catering Award at the Cost Sector Catering Awards 2018.
The ceremony was held at the Hilton Metropole, London on 5th April 2018 and saw the long-term Compass chef receive the prestigious award.
Nick started off his career in the armed forces, training at the Royal Naval Supply School and went on to become Head of Cookery Training for the New Royal Naval Cookery School. Joining Compass in 2001 as an Executive Chef at a large London-based client, he impressed with his appetite for great food and creativity, moving into positions as UK Executive Chef and most recently Culinary Director.
During his time at Compass, Nick has led the implementation of the culinary apprenticeship programme, the Chef Academy, as well as running several school programmes under the Junior Chef Academy. As Culinary Director he has also overseen the ongoing focus on innovation and the development of a wide range of exciting concepts that can be tailored to meet the ever changing tastes and requirements of Compass’ hugely diverse customer base.
Vadis’ has also been involved in six Culinary Olympics; most recently he coached the team to Gold Medal success at the 2016 competition and his dedication to supporting new talent in the industry is clear.
