Restaurant Associates announces exciting charity partnership with 2nd Chance

News

Restaurant Associates, the fine-dining sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has launched its charity partnership with 2nd Chance with an exclusive dinner held at Roux at Parliament Square.

2nd Chance is a programme that provides a specialist education to employment training course, created to support unemployed 18-25 year olds gain work experience, build confidence and develop a range of skills that will help to kick start their careers. The event raised over £4,000 altogether.

As part of the new partnership, Restaurant Associates has also pledged to support 2nd Chance associates through work placements in a bid to provide them with valuable experience in the workplace.

The event was organised by some of Compass Group UK & Ireland’s colleagues that are part of its Graduate programme. The 2016 intake of graduates were set a challenge at the beginning of the year to turn £400 into £4,000 for charity, through planning and organising their own projects within a year.

Executive Chef at Roux at Parliament Square, Steve Groves and Michel Roux Jr. led their team to serve up a delicious menu of Cumbrian Shorthorn Beef with peas and gem lettuce as well as Chocolate and Hazelnut dessert, for 40 guests including associates from 2nd Chance. This was the second event organised by Compass graduates for 2nd Chance this year, following a successful fundraiser at the charity’s headquarters in South London in May.

James Boyle, Managing Director at Restaurant Associates, said: “We’re extremely proud to be partnering with 2nd Chance and it’s great to have kick-started our fundraising efforts with a brilliant evening organised by two of our talented Compass graduates. We’re a people-powered business, so we really see the value and importance of the work 2nd Chance is doing and we hope to raise more for this brilliant charity later this year.”

Jenna Greenway who is part of Compass Group UK & Ireland’s graduate programme helped organise the event. She added: “We had such a brilliant evening raising much needed funds for the 2nd Chance charity. It has been great working with them to get a good insight into how they help young people back into employment across London. We hope the event has also raised awareness of the great work the charity does.”

Annabel Bates CEO of UP: Unlocking Potential, the charity that coordinates the 2nd Chance Programme said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been chosen as the official charity partner to Restaurant Associates and we’re very grateful for the brilliant fundraising efforts so far. The money raised will go a long way in supporting our associates to develop their careers.”
