Superfood for Superheroes at ExCeL London
Well known chef and entrepreneur Levi Roots and superheroes participating at MCM London Comic Con have joined a Food Academy cookery workshop for local Newham school children at ExCeL London, the capital's international convention and exhibition centre located in London's Royal Docks.
This workshop, hosted by ExCeL London, had Levi Roots and the superheroes demonstrating to the children the Food Academy and Diabetes UK message that cooking good food is fun.
Food Academy delivers fun and high quality cooking classes to brighten lives and build stronger communities by inspiring people to love better food, develop key cooking skills and to learn about exciting careers and businesses in food.
The ongoing project between Food Academy, ExCeL and its catering partner Levy Restaurants UK, for children from Oasis Academy Silvertown, will culminate in a winning team running a restaurant at MCM London Comic Con, to be held at ExCeL from 27 - 29 May.
Levi Roots, chef and entrepreneur, said: “I know more than anyone the importance of eating well for families including my own. This is important because eating a balanced diet along with regular exercise could help prevent Type 2 diabetes, a problem affecting many of the poorest communities in the UK. So I am delighted to support the Food Academy, Diabetes UK, ExCeL London, the children of Oasis Silvertown and the superheroes of MCM London Comic Con in showing how easy and fun it is to cook delicious food that is healthy."
