Nutrition and Allergen Management Services

Practical and expert led allergen management services for state schools.

Children’s food safety, nutrition and wellbeing have never mattered more. With allergy prevalence rising, new statutory expectations coming into force, and an increased focus on healthy lifestyles and personal development within the Common Inspection Framework, schools need clear, practical support – not policies that sit on a shelf.

Compass Group UK & Ireland offers free allergen support to state schools, delivered by Registered Nutritionists, removing cost as a barrier to pupil safety.

Benedict's Law

From September 2026, the government is launching new statutory guidance on allergy safety in schools.

All schools in England must:

  • Implement a clear, school‑wide allergy policy
  • Provide robust staff training on food allergies and intolerances to all employees
  • Nominate a named governor and a named senior leader to oversee allergy management
  • Support the introduction and management of spare adrenaline devices on site
  • Hold individual healthcare plans (IHPs) for all children with allergies or intolerances that require active management
  • Protect pupils with food allergies and intolerances

What’s included – free of charge

1. Allergen management guidance for schools
Virtual briefings for teaching staff and catering teams, covering:

  • Current and emerging allergen legislation

Additional support (chargeable)

Schools can also access nutrition and sustainability services that support wider school priorities, including personal development, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles as considered within the Common Inspection Framework:

  • Allergen awareness, including pupil and parent workshops
  • Training for governors and safeguarding leads
  • School allergy assessments
  • Nutrition and school food standards training for staff
  • Sustainability and climate action plan support
