ExCeL London Hospitality brings River Cottage Canteen to life at Grand Designs Live

Newly launched ExCeL London Hospitality, a partnership between ExCeL and its official caterers Levy Restaurants UK, brought Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage to life at this year’s Grand Designs Live show (30 April – 8 May).

The innovative River Cottage Canteen provided more than 3,000 visitors to the exhibition with an opportunity to experience the passion for food integrity and use of local, seasonal produce for which the influential Devon based restaurant is renowned.

The pop-up River Cottage Canteen experience was a collaboration with Media 10 Ltd, one of the leading players in the media and events industry.

Over nine days of the show the restaurant served starters such as seaweed and cider cured salmon, cured meats and pickles and smoked mackerel paté. Main courses featured baked Pollock with crab, English tomatoes and wild garlic, and slow cooked red ruby brisket ale and onions. Desserts included a rhubarb crumble and a chocolate beetroot cake served with organic double cream.

River Cottage Canteen complements ExCeL London Hospitality’s programme to redefine every aspect of the visitors’ food and drink experience at the venue and establish food as an enabler of great event outcomes. The pop-up also underlines Levy Restaurants UK’s philosophy for producing dishes with seasonal, British ingredients and providing memorable experiences for its guests.
