Payne & Gunter undergoes rebrand to reflect its heritage

News

Payne & Gunter, one of London’s leading event caterers, has launched its new look as ‘London’s originals’, reflecting the company’s long history, which dates back to 1786.

Since then, Payne & Gunter has been a maker of English hospitality in all its quirky glory, known for fine venues, characterful dining and impeccable delivery. Elements of the new look have been drawn from this rich heritage, such as the Payne & Gunter crest, featuring a distinctive pineapple, which directly references the original. Further details can be found on the new website www.payneandgunter.co.uk.

Payne & Gunter grew out of Gunter’s of Mayfair, which established itself in the 18th century and was caterer to George IV and George V, and Payne’s, a renowned coffee bar which grew into an outdoor catering company. Since then, the company has evolved and now leads the market by catering for corporate events, awards, private parties and headline social occasions. The 2017 diary is already packed with exciting dates - Payne & Gunter will cater the BRIT Awards at London’s The O2 for the 13th time, a challenging event which involves serving 3,000 guests in just 75 minutes. The team is also proud to once again help entertain guests in The Members Restaurant & Deli at Royal Windsor Horse Show, the UK’s largest outdoor equestrian show.

2017 will also see the launch of a new collection of prestigious menus, created by a hand-picked selection of the UK’s leading chefs. Further details will be announced in the new year, with dishes available from spring 2017.
Payne & Gunter’s director, Bethan James, started her career with the company as a graduate and worked her way up through the business.  Bethan says, “We have an incredible heritage, driven by creating great events since 1786. Coming from Wales, my personal highlight was creating the 2011 Ryder Cup Team dinner hosted in Cardiff Castle – but I know there will be many more highs to come."

Head chef John Brodie worked in some of London’s finest hotels before joining Payne & Gunter. John says, “We might be London’s originals, but my team are working hard on using modern cooking techniques to create memorable, classic British dishes with a twist - the key ingredient of any successful event."

Payne & Gunter is a recommended caterer at iconic venues in London and beyond, from the Natural History Museum to Trinity House; stunning wedding venues from Hedsor House to Eltham Palace as well as the modern icons, including The Roundhouse or The O2.

Payne & Gunter events involve exceptional dishes and characterful flourishes, every detail thoroughly thought through and delivered impeccably. As it has been since the company started in Mayfair in 1786. As it should be from the true originals of English hospitality.
